We are looking for an experienced Studio Technician. Studio Technician III is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of technical equipment and services during programs. This leadership role is primarily responsible for leading a production crew through directing and technical directing all aspects of a live news broadcast and station programming. Emphasis areas are strong communication and collaboration with production crew, newsroom staff and coordinating with other departments to create station products.


  • Operate production switcher while directing production staff during programs

  • Assist with visual effects on various commercial, promotional and programming productions in studio; work closely with local programming, news producers and production directors to ensure the desired on-air look and feel is attained.

  • Work in all areas of TV production including; operate cameras, video playback, teleprompter, audio operation, graphics operation, set up and adjust lighting, construct and dismantle sets.

  • Assist engineers with trouble-shooting technical problems and effectively resolve issues as they occur.

  • Administrative duties: Copying, Filling out forms, and explaining procedures for policies to others, providing feedback on employee performance.

  • Training others on equipment and workflow procedures

  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.


  • Associate degree required from an accredited college/university majoring in Television Production or a related field or related experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience operating a production switcher for professional broadcast


  • Working knowledge of television station production equipment. Examples include: Graphics systems, video switchers, audio boards, studio cameras, teleprompters and lighting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of floor operations.

  • Must be familiar with all aspects of graphics systems operations.

  • Must be familiar with building/mapping elements on a production switcher 

  • Must have good working knowledge of computers.

  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities under extreme time constraints with poise and skill.

  • Flexible work hours required including holidays, weekends, evenings and possible overtime hours.

  • Knowledge of proper grammar and spelling.

  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must be a team player.

  • Must be an avid learner who quickly applies training, new techniques and independent judgment.

  • Ability to handle multiple operations and priorities under extreme constraints with professionalism and skill

  • Must have a good attitude toward others
