KLAS-TV the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas is looking for a Producer to oversee its new website. Mystery Wire is a project 30 years in the making, dedicated to reports on Area 51, UFOs, military technology, paranormal, mysteries and just great news stories. The site is a portal to the world’s largest archive of journalistically vetted news stories, interviews and special investigations into a diverse universe of strange, unknown and unsettling subjects. The successful candidate will work closely with Veteran newsman George Knapp. Knapp has been bringing great stories to the KLAS-TV audience in Las Vegas since 1981, establishing a national reputation for treating unusual topics with serious journalism.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update website
  • Strong skillset in writing, producing and editing material that appeals to target audience
  • Set up and conduct interviews
  • Host weekly podcast
  • Responsible for posting social media content and engaging with social media followers
  • Research production topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Minimum two years’ Producing or Reporting experience.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; fluency in English

Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

Utilize state-of-the-art television technology

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Flexibility to work any shift, holidays or weekends


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The Producer must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.  In addition, the Producer must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Repetitive movements are required.  Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
